SDNS sells advertising for state's 138 weekly and daily newspapers. Comprehensive compensation and benefits package for the right person. Must be sales-driven, have excellent organization, communication skills and 3-5 years ad sales experience. Must be dedicated to cultivating new business. What is SDNS?South Dakota Newspaper Services is a for-profit business affiliate of South Dakota Newspaper Association, a trade association representing South Dakota's 138 weekly and daily newspapers. We perform a variety of services for our member newspapers and one of our chief missions is to represent our member newspapers in advertising sales and placement. In 2003, we sold and placed more than $1.6 million in advertising into South Dakota weekly and daily newspapers. In effect, our association sales effort is an extension of every South Dakota newspaper's sales staff. Based in Brookings, S.D., SDNA/SDNS employs seven full-time and three part-time people. We offer a very competitive base/commission compensation and benefits package, including health/dental/vision insurance, retirement, life insurance, disability paid vacation and sick leave.

Description
Advertising Sales ManagerThe Advertising Sales Manager at SDNS is responsible for leading the SDNS advertising sales effort and is directly responsible for all contacts with prospective advertising clients and agencies. The sales manager is responsible for promoting newspaper advertising and working with member newspapers and their advertising staffs. Specifically, the advertising sales manager will be: · Responsible for managing all ad sales. Identifying prospects and prioritizing sales efforts. Developing sales call lists, making presentations and sales calls to prospective clients. Managing all contacts with advertising agencies and clients in regard to advertising placed through SDNS. · Responsible for working with advertising professionals at member newspapers to develop leads and focus priorities for SDNS sales efforts. Develop materials and sales tools for enhancing the image of newspaper advertising to prospective clients. · Responsible for keeping informed about newspaper and advertising issues in state and nation and be conversant on trends and problems affecting the newspaper advertising industry. Significant travel is involved. Travel throughout the state and the upper Midwest is necessary in order to maintain good, solid relationships with advertising agencies and clients as well as member newspapers.
